Maribel Ramos
Maribel Ramos

'Fall for Flamenco Festival' is pleased to present three shows with La Zambra—an authentic Spanish flamenco dance and music performance.

Maribel Ramos, 'La Zambra' (website www.lazambra.es), is one of Spain's finest professional dancers, elegant and effortless with unusually strong and precise footwork. She has been training and dancing flamenco, classical ballet and classical Spanish Dance since she was a child. She has won numerous awards in Spain, scholarships to study dance and has performed on stages all over the world—and she's coming here, for her Canadian debut! Read the interview with Maribel...

She will be accompanied by another fine flamenco dancer, Oscar de los Reyes: a formidable force of sensuality, power, and lightning fast footwork. He commands the stage.

They are accompainied by guitarist Tino van der Sman, a well known Dutch artist who plays in a variety of flamenco styles. The most noticeable elements of Tino’s playing are the clarity of his technique and his emotional melodies. Read our interview with Tino here...

Vocalist Jesus Corbacho, at age 24, is one of the youngest, most accomplished flamenco singers in Spain. He has sung in several flamenco companies and prominent festivals.

La Zambra will perform in the Lilian Piercey Concert Hall, at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, in the heart of Halifax. The arched ceiling, stage mouldings, gently sloping floor and wall of windows create an elegant space for such a performance.

Please join us for an unforgettable evening.
