ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
“Fall for Flamenco Festival' is a cultural, educational and artistic event that enriches the surrounding community and region. Flamenco is for everyone. Flamenco is a way of life. We hope you will join us for a passionate and unique experience and fall for flamenco! Fall for flamenco. Feel the passion.” Maria Osende, Artistic Director
Fall for Flamenco Festival is an annual international music, dance and cultural event that takes place in October in Halifax, Canada. It is the first annual flamenco festival in Canada. The festival offers many fun activities, concerts and performances that centre around the powerful, centuries old gypsy tradition—flamenco. We offer workshops, beginner classes and master classes in dance, guitar and song, as well as famous guest artists from Spain, popular local flamenco fusion bands and dance performances, and a free library concert series.
“Flamenco is always spontaneous...connected to the music, the primal rhythm of the footwork, the colour of the costumes, all elements creating an emotional universe.” -Joaquin Ruiz, Flamenco Dancer Previous guest artist at the 'Fall for Flamenco Festival' 2008
The 'Fall for Flamenco Festival' continues to bring some of the most distinguished and internationally acclaimed flamenco artists from Spain and around the world. Past guests include guitarist Juan Martin (voted one of the top three guitarists in the world by US Guitar Player Magazine), dancer Inmaculada Ortega, Rafael Campallo, Manuel Reyes Maya and Joaquin Ruiz.
The Fall for Flamenco Festival is presented by the Atantic Flamenco Productions (formerly Flamenco Festival Atlantic Society). We are a not-for-profit organization, with registered charitable status, whose mandate is the dissemination of flamenco and Spanish culture in the Atlantic region.
Our funding comes from generous donors, arts grants and fundraisers. We also have numerous sponsors and volunteers.
