Miguel Tellez
Miguel began his training at age 10 in Spain, in his native town of Jerez de la Frontera which is considered the birthplace of Flamenco. In 1995, he moved to Madrid to join the José Tamayo Company and continued his career as a principal dancer with the companies of Joaquín Grilo, “El Güito” and Carmen Cortés among others. In 2008, he participated in the opening of the “Festival de Jerez” with the critically acclaimed show “Viva Jerez” together with Maria del Mar Moreno and Mercedes Ruiz. He has performed in numerous Festivals and in the best theatres both in Spain and around the world.
Miguel first visited Canada in February 2010, when he came to Halifax for a guest performance in Flamenco Valentine with Maria Osende Flamenco Company. His debut appearance in Canada was met with much enthusiasm and admiration for his technique and passion.
Miguel will be performing in "De España con Amor", on October 28 at 8pm at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Dalhousie Arts Centre. He will also be teaching master classes in flamenco dance from October 22-30.
